The Kent State University chapter of Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) is open to all Kent State University students interested in pursuing a career in the growing meetings and events industry. Students participate in various fundraising events; go on tours of hotels, conference and convention centers; listen to industry leaders; and attend the annual convention that provides networking and career opportunities.
PCMA members gain cold-calling skills
PCMA members Alison Panigall, Ashby Fuenning, Lisa Walker, Athena Petro, Abby Kruszynski, and Brittany Belko assisted the sales staff of the I-X Center and the Cleveland CVB to promote the Material Handling and Logistics Show and Conference to area businesses. The tradeshow will be held in late April 2008 at the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Students personally visited various businesses
that are considered clients of the material handling industry to distribute marketing materials. They explained various benefits of attending the conference to decision-makers at various corporations whenever possible.
